Despite difficult conditions, Wokingham maintained their 100% start to the
league with a hard-fought victory over 3M.
The Blues made it difficult for themselves, falling behind after fifteen minutes.
A corner from the 3M left-hand side was not dealt with and after Allan Mellor failed to hold onto the ball, 3M scored with
a shot from close range.
Wokingham wasted little time in getting back on level terms, it was 1-1 within
five minutes. Ian Griffith's low corner was flicked on by Anthony Prior at the near post and stabbed past the 3M 'keeper
by Dan van der Laan O'Donnell.
The goal saw Wokingham enjoy a good spell of possession and they were able
to score two goals before the interval.
First Jamie Ryall's pass set up Tom Soane to win a chase with the goalkeeper
and prod into the empty net. Then Chris Orbell played Soane in again to take it around the 3M 'keeper for his second.
In the second half the windy conditions made it difficult to play football
and Wanderers failed to create much in the way of chances.
Fortunately 3M struggled too, although they did score the only goal of the
half. A free kick from the left bounced across the box and was diverted past Mellor at the far post.
Although this was not Wanderers' best performance of the season, it was an
important victory and the Blues should be able to maintain the momentum of three successive wins.
