30th April 2003 - Division 4 - Langborough Rec.

Following their encouraging recent form, Wanderers entertained Binfield Social Club with victory in their minds.

With Alan Mellor injured, Dan Van der Laan-O'Donnell deputised in goal and produced a solid performance helped by a resolute defence.

Wanderers took the lead after the fifteen minutes when Scott Fords long pass was touched onto Tom Soane by Anthony Prior.   Spotting the goalkeeper out of position, Soane hit an early shot bounced into the corner of the net.

A second goal came shortly afterwards when Alan Pearce superbly put Prior through on goal and he finished neatly.

Binfield pulled a goal back when Wanderers failed to clear and Van der Laan-ODonnell was beaten from close range.

The Blues were able to regain their two goal cushion when Ford flicked on Andy Kinchs long throw and Prior executed a bicycle-kick beyond the dive of the Binfield keeper.

At half time the hardworking Oliver Bambrough was replaced by Jamie Ryall on the right wing.

Within minutes of the restart Wanderers extended their lead to 4-1 as Prior completed his fifth hat-trick of the season.  Tom Soane hit in an excellent low cross and Prior was able to lift the ball over the keeper.

Binfield then scored two goals in as many minutes, both a result of Wanderers collective reluctance to challenge for the ball.  The first was a low shot past Van der Laan-ODonnell and then second a header.

In the closing minutes, Wanderers were resolute and held on for a superb victory, their tenth of the season.
