28th October 2007 - Division 1 - Elizabeth Road, Wokingham

Having beaten Barn 3-1 the previous week Wanderers suffered a 3-1 defeat in a frustrating match at Elizabeth Road.

The home side's failure to organise an alternative kit led to a delayed kick-off which didn't help Wokingham's cause.  They were already without several players, including goalkeeper Nick Harding.  Jamie Ryall deputised in goal.

When the match started it quickly became a scrappy affair in wet conditions with the heavy pitch not helping matters.

Wanderers had failed to produce any meaningful chances when they fell behind after fifteen minutes.  A goalmouth scramble saw Wokingham struggle to clear and a low shot came through a group of players to beat Ryall low to his left.

Minutes later and Chris Hillsdon had suffered a hamstring injury.  With no substitutes he swapped places with Ryall.  Andy Corless moved into the centre of defence.

Hillsdon was beaten soon after.  A long ball over the top left him exposed and rooted to his spot and a shot was fired to his left and into the corner of the net.

Wanderers began to battle more and come into the game towards the end of the half. Phil Soane's positive running down the left cased Barn problems on several occasions.  Anthony Prior managed to get their first shot on target.

Just before the interval Barn extended their advantage.  Their appeared to be no danger when a cross from the left was flicked away however the advancing Barn full-back met the ball with a firm header into the top corner.

Somehow Wanderers got through the second half without conceding again.  Barn struck the post and Hillsdon made several saves, usually with his legs.

With twenty minutes remaining Wanderers pulled a goal back.  Simon Reip, Wanderers' best performer on the day, collected the ball and struck a firm shot from twenty five yards which beat the Barn goalkeeper at his near post.

Shortly afterwards the Blues came close to scoring again.  Phil Soane got to the by-line and pulled a cross back which just evaded John Mercer's outstretched foot.

Soane himself came close to scoring at the death as he threw himself towards Prior's cross from the right.  However Wanderers could not make their late possession count and went down 3-1.
