14th January 2007 - Division 2 - Cantley, Wokingham

Wanderers' first match of 2007 was a lethargic affair against lowly 3M.

The slow tempo was dictated by the visitors, who took a lead when a corner kick evaded Nick Harding and the Blues' defenders and dipped into the corner of the net.

Wokingham sought to get back into the match quickly, as 3M set about the task of defending their lead.  Andy Corless and Anthony Prior produced dangerous crosses from the right, which were cleared by 3M on both occasions.

Having been dubiously flagged offside several times, Tom Soane saw his first shot of the match saved after he had run past a challenge into the 3M box.  Soane then turned provider as he set Prior free.  With the 3M 'keeper quickly out, Prior's shot was wide of the goal and just too fast for Soane to catch up with.

In the second half Wanderers changed things, with Prior moving out to the right, Corless into midfield and Chris Orbell back to right back.  The move looked to pay immediate dividends as Wanderers won two corners.

With thirty minutes remaining, Wanderers grabbed a more than deserved equaliser.  A throw-in from the Blues' left was only half-cleared, and Richard Scott struck a powerful shot from twenty yards, which zipped past the 3M 'keeper into the bottom corner of the net.

As 3M sat back, and Wanderers became more tired the game produced few further opportunities.  Orbell went on a mazy run into the 3M half, exchanged passes with Prior, before forcing the 3M goalkeeper into a save from close range.

The Blues introduced Dave Griffiths and Ian Griffiths in an attempt to win the three points.  Unfortunately Wanderers could not find the illusive goal, and 3M held out for a disappointing 1-1 draw.
