25th September 2005 - Division 2 - Harmanswater Road, Bracknell

Wanderers responded to last week's defeat against Green Man with a convincing display against Keltar Old Boys.

The Blues started with a 4-5-1 formation, Lewis Trusty starting in midfield and Anthony Prior the lone frontman.

In a scrappy first period, neither side produced a clear-cut chance.  The closest that the Blues came was through efforts from defenders Andy Corless and Dan van der Laan O'Donnell, that went wide.  At the other end, Mark Timms was alert to race off his line and thwart the Keltar attack on several occasions.

At half-time Wanderers introduced Paul Martin in place of Trusty, and reverted to 4-4-2.  Ten minutes later, Wakley was replaced by Tom Soane as the Blues went all out for the victory.  The benefit was seen within minutes, Jamie Ryall winning a crunching challenge to feed Martin, who finished with a low shot from ten yards.

This helped open the game up, and Wokingham enjoyed more possession as full-backs Chris Hillsdon and Chris Orbell linked up with the attacks.  A second Wanderers goal arrived just after the hour mark, Tom Soane battling through two challenges to fire powerfully under the goalkeeper.

Soane was enjoying his first league appearance of the season, and looked sharp as he forced the Keltar 'keeper into two saves.

Tom Mansfield came on in place of the hardworking Jamie Ryall, as Wanderers looked to clinch the points.  With twenty minutes to go, this looked less certain as a Keltar played evaded several challenges before shooting low beyond Timms.

The Blues held firm though, and scored a third goal to kill the game off.  Tom Soane showed an excellent touch to skip past a Keltar defender, and as his left footed shot struck the post Ian Griffiths pounced on the rebound to tap in.

Wanderers' second win of the season, and a deserved one.  A win was vital for Wokingham to bounce straight back, and once again every player played a part in this success.
